Gareth is a Singapore-based architecture and cityscape photographer and educator, who first picked up photography in 1994, initially to help in his graphic design degree course. He has always had an interest in architecture but it was a photography mentorship programme in 2014 that inspired him to continue photographing the ever-changing urban landscape and architecture of Singapore. He is an adjunct lecturer with Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts, where he has been conducting lectures with the department of Fine Art’s Introduction to Photography elective.
He also conducts photography-based workshops with a variety of secondary schools in Singapore. At the moment, his focus is on documenting the ever-changing landscape of Singapore, especially his own estate of Bedok where he has been a resident since 1993, as well as the spaces in Singapore he has fond memories of including the CBD, Chinatown, Rochor and Kampong Gelam areas. Gareth is a registered MOE (Ministry of Education) and NAC (National Arts Council)visual arts trainer.
